This negotiated, time-sensitive
renovation was a "build out" of the regional Poudre Valley Hospital.
The owner had specific scheduling needs that had to be met from an operational
standpoint and Drahota was heavily involved during preconstruction and
construction. The project finished ahead of schedule. Many constructability
issues arose from working in a fully functional busy hospital, including
major access issues. We had the use of one stairwell and limited access
to the elevator. A number of times, windows were removed to crane materials
in to the elevated floor. Drahota had a full-time crew working solely
on safety and cleanliness.
Another project challenge was the fact that the 4th floor was a psychiatric ward where construction noise directly affected the patients. Drahota worked with doctors, nurses and hospital facilities to maintain limited disturbance. “Drahota was instrumental in the success of this project.
