Collindale was renovated with a vision of offering a “country club”
atmosphere on a public course. We began by demolishing the existing clubhouse
(built in 1970) to make room for a full-service restaurant and full-service
men’s and women’s locker rooms. Other additions included an
expanded parking lot and underground golf cart parking. This was an extremely
tight site. The course remained open throughout the project. Drahota accomodated
by using multiple phases and locations for parking lots and cart paths.
Weekly meetings were held on the jobsite to keep the communication lines
clear and open between four different entities: The City of Fort Collins,
City Golf Manager, Collindale Staff, and Braun’s Restaurant. Everyone
had to communicate effectively to ensure an overall consistency in construction.
“Drahota’s onsite management team was very competent, courteous,
and most importantly I found them well organized,” Jerry Brown,
Manager, Golf Division of the City of Ft. Collins. This project placed
2nd for a national architectural award of new public courses in 2003.
