Rangeview Three will be McWhinney's first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) certified project and is a LEED Silver-planned project. The four story 61,000 square-foot office building is the second Rangeview project that Drahota will build and will be completed in the fall of 2007.

The LEED Green Building Rating by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. LEED defines “green building”, promotes integrated, whole-building design practices, and recognizes environmental leadership in the building industry.

“McWhinney is committed to sustainability and to demonstrating leadership such as with its co-development of the High Plains Environmental Center,” said Dean Barber, Vice President of Project Management-Office/Industrial, McWhinney. “The focus of our efforts at Rangeview Three will be to create an environment to maximize our tenant's productivity and comfort while still being sustainable in our building material selections and waste management.”

Rangeview Three will be focusing on all areas of the LEED Silver certification program. Areas of specialty within Rangeview Three include Sustainable Sites (bicycle storage, changing rooms, storm water quality, maximizing open space, light pollution reduction), Water Efficiency (landscaping, low usage fixtures), Energy and Atmosphere (energy performance, refrigerant management), Materials and Resources (recycling program, recycled content materials, use of regional materials), and Indoor Air Quality (use of low-emitting materials, thermal comfort design, and maximizing daylight and views).

As the governing council of LEED certification, the USGBC is the nation's foremost coalition of leaders from every sector of the building industry working to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work. “McWhinney creates great places for people, which includes wonderful places to work. At Rangeview Three, we will solidify our commitment towards environmental sustainability and green building,” said Chad McWhinney, CEO and Co-Founder, McWhinney.

Jeff Jensen, COO, LEED AP of Drahota adds “It's great that McWhinney recognizes the benefits of building sustainable office space which is quickly becoming more desirable. Not every developer is willing to commit to the cost and benefit equation of building an environmentally-friendly office project.” The Drahota team will include Joel Hardy, project manager, LEED AP; Jeff White, superintendent; Derek Cohen, project engineer; and Patty Williams, project coordinator.

Major consultants on the Rangeview Three project include RNL Design – Architect/Mechanical Engineer, APS, Inc. – Electrical Engineer, TwHartmann, Inc.-Structural Engineer, Tait and Associates – Civil Engineer, and BHA Design, Inc.- Planner/Landscape Architect.
