History
40 Years Strong.
Back when contracts we're signed with a handshake, I started Drahota with a pick-up truck, some basic carpentry skills and a strong set of principles. After graduating from Colorado State University with a degree in finance, a Swedish carpenter named Dean Smith took me under his wing and taught me all there was to know about the carpentry trade, including techniques for building custom cabinetry, staircases, doors, windows and structures. With this training as my foundation, I built homes in the mountains, including one for my former CSU professor, before returning to Fort Collins to start my own business in 1973.
In 1978, as a Fort Collins general contractor with three employees and a small home office I got my big break – a $1 million contract for a job in Breckenridge. This was the catalyst that set the wheels in motion for Drahota as a commercial contractor in Colorado and 40 years later we're still building strong.
We've been privileged to have long-standing relationships with our clients, employees and the community, which have helped us achieve and celebrate our success in the business.
And, no matter what the market's doing, we're dedicated to the same values that got us here. From "one man and a pick-up truck" to a top general contractor in Colorado, we're devoted to the fundamentals of trust, commitment and communication – and above all else – partnership.
